"Elf" -- adopted February 2010

Meet Elf! This teeny tiny 3 month old boy rolled into WBCR just days before Christmas. And what a delightful little package he is!

Elf came from a crowded WY shelter, picked up as a stray (!!) and never claimed. We think he's a BC mix – likely with Sheltie, as he is definitely on the petite side and has very delicate features. He also has fur as soft as a feather and just look at those ears!! To be honest, his photos do not do his amazing cuteness justice.

But don't be misled by his small stature or youth - Elf shows the maturity and collected wits of a dog much bigger and older. While lacking a little in the confidence department on first meeting new people/dogs, he quickly warms up and makes friends with all he meets. He loves to play - especially with other dogs, even those much older and bigger than him. If no one wants to play, he'll happily throw a toy around and entertain himself, chase a blowing leaf, or race around the yard. If nothing else is going on, Elf is perfectly content to chill out in a dog bed or better yet, in front of the space heater! He's not nippy or terribly chewy for his age, and he even eats at a relaxed pace...a few bites, a taste of water, then BURP, and back to slowly eating once again. He’s also a pretty vocal boy when he wants something (like the other dogs to play with him), or when he needs to get outside for pottying – he’s not afraid to speak his mind! We think he'll mature into a nice moderate energy boy.

Elf is also one smart kiddo! He caught onto the housetraining idea really quickly, crates nicely and settles down inside well too. He'll sit and come when called. Of course, there's many more things for him to learn, and he's certainly not above using his cute and charming ways to get what he wants, so he will need an adopter who will continue his manners training.

Elf is just an all-round delightful little character with the makings of a total winner. With his well-adjusted and rather easygoing nature, he is suitable to many different kinds of situations. Wherever he lands, this darling pup is sure to bring years of joy to some lucky family.

Elf is current on puppy vaccinations and deworming, and is living in a foster home near Casper, WY. In addition to our adoption fee, Elf’s adoption will include a $100 neuter deposit that will be cheerfully returned to his adopter(s) once proof of neuter is provided when Elf is ~6 months of age.
