Success Stories

"Jovi" -- adopted January 2010

Warning: Ignore this girl at your peril!! Jovi is an adorable, shamelessly affectionate young female BC/Aussie who craves attention and is not shy about getting it. She’ll nudge your elbow or even crawl right into your lap if she thinks it is time for a good snuggle! With her adorable ears, classic good looks and faaaabulous smile, we must admit that this petite (35-40 pound) girl is pretty hard to resist.

Besides being on a constant search for some lovin, Jovi is also always up for adventure! She's higher energy and extremely fast and athletic. We think she would likely enjoy agility or some other dog sport. She loves to go anywhere, and will meet you at the front door at the first sign of activity. She loves toys - especially squeaky ones - although she's not much of a fetcher. She plays best with other dogs in small groups - she is a herdy girl and bigger groups of dogs bring out the bossy playground monitor in her!

Jovi was surrendered to a crowded kill shelter in Wyoming by owners said they "didn’t have time for her any more." Her previous owners did, however, spend some time training her. She knows sit, down, stay, off, and has a great recall. She does well on or off leash. She is crate trained, housebroken, and won't counter surf. She has a great off switch once inside and her manners in the house are impeccable... she can be trusted to free roam the house at night (though she will pretend to sleep on her dog bed, then move to the couch in the middle of the night!). Oh, and she doesn’t mind cats at all.

So why hasn’t this lovely girlie been adopted yet? Perhaps because Jovi is initially very shy and fearful when meeting new people, and she can become defensive if she feels uncomfortable with the situation. Her foster home is working on that with her. Jovi needs a home that will work with her, introducing her to new situations in a calm and controlled way. It really doesn’t take Jovi long to realize that new people are her friends (it took her foster mom about 3 hours to get Jovi from a shy, fearful dog to a cuddle bug that won’t stop begging for affection) – she's just not one to show her loving nature immediately.

Jovi will do best in a quieter, childless home where she can be a beloved member of the family. An adopter who can keep her stimulated, shower her with love and affection, and help her work on her fear of strangers would be perfect for this cutie. It may take a little while for Jovi to warm up, but once she does, she is a prize worth keeping!

Jovi is fully vetted and living in a loving foster home near Casper, WY.
